Q: Did Schoology replace the Power Teacher Pro Gradebook?
A: No. Power Teacher Pro (PTP) continues to be the official book of record for teachers to record grades. Schoology can be set up with gradebook categories and weights and then linked to Power Teacher Pro, allowing grades to automatically post to Power Teacher Pro.
However, using the Schoology gradebook is not required and there are steps that need to be followed in order for grades to automatically sync to Power Teacher Pro. Please see the Service Desk for guidance documents outlining these steps.
Q: Do I have to sync the Schoology gradebook to PTP?
A: No. You do not have to sync the two gradebooks together. You can continue to manually place your grades into PTP. As an option, Schoology can be set up with gradebook categories and weights and then linked to Power Teacher Pro to allow grades to sync with Power Teacher Pro. Q: What syncs over from Schoology to PTP?
A: If you have set up your Schoology gradebook categories, the assignment title, grade, and what category it should be placed in will be synced to PTP. Your assignment title must be less than 50 characters due to a PTP constraint.
Q: My student’s overall grade doesn’t match in Schoology and in PTP. Why?
A: This is because your category weights in Schoology and PTP are different. Remember, what you have set for category weights in PTP are the official weights of the course. While you don’t have to configure your category weights in Schoology, it might be less confusing if they are an identical match to what you have set up in PTP.
Another reason why the grades don’t match up could be that you have made an adjustment to an assignment grade in PTP. That change will not be reflected in the Schoology gradebook.
Q: Why are my assignments not syncing between the two gradebooks?
A: There are many reasons.
Make sure you select Sync or Sync Changes.
First check the sync status to see if there is an error and error code.
Make sure your assignments have due dates for your assignments. Another fix would be to delete the entry in PowerSchool and then select Sync Changes.
Q: How do I Sync my Gradebooks?

Q: How do I enter Progress Report Grades in Schoology?
A: Progress Report grades must be entered in PTP, not in Schoology. This process has not changed and teachers will still need to go into PTP and enter the Final Grade for Progress Reports - S or U.
